Ralph Lauren have recently launched their Fall 2010 Collection which although is compromised of tweed and brown leather there are many Gothic outfits and influences within the collection which have come as a surprise to many. The Gothic style collections named ‘Luxe Velvet’ and ‘Dramatic Black’ include beautiful beading and mesh fabrics and not forgetting the velvet which have been used in many clothing items including astounding dresses, tops, jackets and accessories. Altogether the collection is a warm welcomed surprise into the gothic fashion scene and will hopefully influence the high street names to do the same.

Eclipse Movie Review

The Twilight Saga has finally found its footing with Eclipse, the third film of the blockbuster series. Selecting David Slade (30 Days of Night, Hard Candy) to direct was absolutely the right choice, and in Slade’s capable hands the series takes a darker turn in keeping with Stephenie Meyer’s book.

Slade, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight, New Moon, and Dexter seasons 1 thru 4), and the returning cast of Twilight players really jell this time around. The actors are obviously comfortable and know their characters well, but with Eclipse a few of the minor characters from Twilight and New Moon are given their chance to spend a few minutes in the spotlight. And with the third film, the action is taken to a different, grittier and much more realistic level – or at least as realistic as the action in a PG-13 teen vampire film can get without a $200 million budget.

The kooky popstar is ultra-sexy for new cover shoot

Katy has slipped out of her PVC minis and into an even skimpier array of outfits for the August cover of Esquire magazine.

Normally a fan of all things bright and bold, the California Gurls singer has gone gothic for the men’s mag shots, photographed by Ysu Tsai.

She wears nothing but a a corset belt, meshed hotpants and some killer platforms in most of the shots, and then changes into a raunchy leather catsuit.

Her vampy pointed nails, loose raven locks and crucifix jewellery complete the look.

You’re the director of a tween girl-targeted, vampire-themed movie series. You’re looking for someone with a bring a bit of authentic gothic gravitas to the wildly successful but lightweight franchise. Who do you turn to considering, as someone once pointed out, Bela Lugosi is dead?

In a move apparently intended to unite the current crop of pre-adolescent, vampire-obsessed neophytes with their cider-swilling, blouse-sporting, black-draped 1980s forebears, the makers of the ‘Twilight‘ films have tapped ex-Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy for a cameo in the latest installment of their celibate-undead chronicle. Murphy plays a character called The Cold One in a origin-story flashback during the newly released ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.’

Northampton-based Bauhaus formed in the late ’70s and released four albums before splitting in 1983. The gloomy, black-clad troupe’s nine-minute 1979 debut single ‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’ is considered by many to be the goth scene’s founding text.

“Who else could have and should have done it?,” Murphy told the BBC of his ‘Twilight’ appearance. “It was really lovely and smart of [director] David Slade to ask me… I was honoured.”

“I just can’t think of a better first ever vampire than Peter Murphy,” Slade explained of his casting choice, adding, in a shout out to the lyrics of Bauhaus’s most famous tune, “He’s the original undead, undead, undead.”

‘Eclipse’ is out now. Murphys latest solo album is due for release in the autumn
